The mission began on the prairies of western Canada in 1954, when God gave Leo Janz and his brothers a vision for reaching German-speaking Europe with the Gospel. In addition to the evangelistic ministry they were involved with, the Janz family founded Black Forest Academy in 1956. Today, it is a highly regarded boarding school that serves missionary families and other internationals working in Europe, Africa and Asia. TeachBeyond reflects Janz Team Ministries' commitment to increased involvement in education-based ministry.
