I see cynicism; there is no hope in that.
Injustice maims hope.
Poverty stifles hope.
Wealth pretends to deliver hope.
Political power corrupts hope.
Unfaithfulness punctures hope.
Selfishness warps hope.
The kind of hope we are asked to believe in today is like
shifting sand under our feet. Many have raised their
hopes and then had them dashed so often, that they have
succumbed to depression, resignation, cynicism or rebellion.
In short, hope is seen to be a pipe-dream.
Genuine Hope
Is there such a thing?
Looking at the list above, one notices several factors
which lead to a common denominator.
What is offered as hope in our world is:
narrow in scope (applies only to a few),
of a fleeting nature (lasts only briefly),
and deceptive (provided at a cost).
The common denominators:
no universality and
no permanence.
Genuine hope must be a hope
that everyone can benefit from
and that lasts, forever.
An offer of such a hope exists.
Set aside past disappointments long enough
to seriously consider this offer. The choice is yours. The Offer on the Table:
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?"
